Virginia Watson Obituary

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away peacefully at her home under the loving care of her family and Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice on Monday, June 10, 2019 at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Allen and Gertrude (Springer) Austin, born April 24, 1925 in Jackson, MI. Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Dale K. Watson; infant son, Bradley Dale Watson; sisters, Kay (James) Clore and Nancy VanCamp; three brothers, Jack (Ruth) Austin, Jerry Austin, and Joseph (Jeanne) Austin; brother in-law, Carl Cooper; and her parents. Virginia is survived by one daughter,  Susan (Jim) Taber of Springport; two sons, Mark (Kathy) Watson of Concord, MI, and Gayde Watson of  Liberty Twp.; four grandsons, Tom Taber, Tim (Julie) Taber, Chris (Kristy) Watson, and Josh Watson; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lyle “Gene” (Alice) Austin; sister, Carol Cooper; brother in-law, David VanCamp; sister in-law, Mickie Austin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a graduate of Concord High School. Her working career started with Spartan Electronics, then Spiegle Catalog, then Superintendent of Concord Schools, and finally retiring form Citi Bank & Trust. Virginia loved spending time with her family, cooking, camping, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and golfing. She enjoyed watching her husband and son’s play in their bands, and dancing, especially, Ballroom and Square dance. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her life will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Virginia may be made to the family to help with final expenses, 1905 Hatch Rd., Jackson, MI 49201.
