Valentina Grandy

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the age of 79. Val was the adopted daughter of Idar M. and Beulah (Scott) Olsen, born May 8, 1939 in Tallinn, Estonia. She is survived by her husband, of 58 years, Michael James Grandy; three daughters, Kristine Sanchez of Las Vegas, NV, Deborah (Don) Taylor of Denver, CO, and Dianna Emmou of Mansfield, TX; five grandchildren, Michael Sanchez, Christopher Grandy, Nicole Taylor, Darian and Frank Emmou; her loving dog, Dora and her goose of 35 years, Goosie Loosie. She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick, granddaughter Alexis Emmou and her parents. Val graduated from Jackson High School and Jackson Business College with her Associates Degree. She was a loving homemaker, who loved spending time with her family, enjoyed mowing grass on her zero-turn lawn mower, cooking, baking birthday cakes, trips to Lake Michigan, spending time at Frankfort, MI, where her grandparents resided, and at Leelanau Peninsula. She was an avid swimmer, diver, enjoyed bowling, knitting, needle work, her flowers gardens and her birds. The family would like to give a special thank you to family friends, Margaret Walz-Gregory, Carole Hausler-Mowcomber; and Donna, Angela, Sally, and Suzanne all of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice for there wonderful care of Val. According to Val’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM, Father Timothy Nelson officiating. Inurnment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 120 E. Wesley Street, Jackson, MI 49201 ATTN: Father Nelson for the Window Fund.

The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM.
