Thomas John Seelman

Thomas John Seelman of Jackson, MI passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at the age of 88. He was the son of Edgar and Violet Seelman, born March 25, 1934 in Grand Rapids, MI. Thomas is survived by his two sons, John (Laura) Seelman of Portage, and Ken (Brenda) Seelman of Grand Ledge; six grandchildren, Amelia (Darren) Kesti, Hannah (Nick) Arvanigian, Kristopher (Sarah) Seelman, Lauren (Jeremy) Lyon, Erik Seelman and Olivia Seelman; five great-grandchildren, Dean, Mila, Breslin, Briella, and Gabrielle; one sister, Carolyn Lundy of Apollo Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Thomas served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Thomas then worked and retired from Consumers Power after 32 years of service. Following his retirement, he went on to own and operate Temporary Technical Services in Jackson. Thomas was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church, an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed golf later in life. He enjoyed raising his Springer Spaniels, traveling, and driving around to see the corn fields grow. Thomas had a passion for the Native American Culture and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  

A celebration of his life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 122 W. Wesley St., Jackson, MI 49201 on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 4:00pm with Pastor Kurt Lambart officiating. According to his wishes, cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Futures for Children Inc., 9600 Tennyson Street NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87122.  The family will receive friends at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 4:00-6:00pm and at the church on Sunday from 3:00pm until the time of service.
