Susan Janine (Johnson) McGill, 63, of Jackson, Michigan passed peacefully into eternity surrounded by her family at Henry Ford Hospice Home on August 6, 2025.
Born March 9, 1962 to Richard L. and Betty J. Johnson (Downham) in Logansport, Indiana, Janine grew up on the family farm in Caroll County, Indiana. Janine had fond memories of the farm, which afforded many adventures.
Janine worked in the hospice field for more than 20 years as a chaplain and volunteer coordinator. She always took an interest in others and found it easy to love them as Christ loves us. She was passionate about ministering to and praying for others. She always took the time to ask questions and wanted to help others see the value in themselves.
Janine loved her children and grandchildren very much. She always said they were “pieces of her heart walking around outside of her body.” Janine was a prayer warrior and always said “I can do nothing wrong by praying.”
Anyone who knew her, and many who didn’t, were recipients of her constant prayers. Janine is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her five children, Aaron (Macy) McGill, Kinzie (Jacob) Moffitt, Atalie (Dustin) Schwartz, Quinn McGill, Benjamin (Sarah) McGill, her six grandchildren, and several grand fur babies. She is also survived by her three siblings and their spouses, Lowell (Janice) Johnson, Gentry (Donna) Johnson, and Kimberly (Gary) Forgey, along with many nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. Janine treasured her family and was fondly known and Gigi, Nene, and “Aunt Nene.”
Janine’s celebration of life will take place at Westwinds Community Church, located at 1000 Robinson Road in Jackson, on Monday, August 11, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm with service immediately following at 12pm.
Janine will be laid to rest with family in Hopewell Cemetery on Tuesday, August 12 at 1:00pm in Deer Creek, Indiana.
