Simon Lee Roy "Popcorn" Morris

Simon Lee Roy Morris, age 72, of Jackson Michigan, passed away, May 18, 2023.  Simon was born on January 21, 1951, in Berrien Springs Michigan, son of William Harvey and Della Meddie Morris. 

He is survived by his children Jennifer (Tony) Williams, Rebecca (Brian) Hough, Simon (Melissa) Morris II, and Jessica Morris; grandchildren Scott Hough (Ashley and Hayley), Jacob and Andrew Otberg, Olivia and Simon III Morris, and Mackenzie Hough. Brothers and sisters William (Sharon) Morris, Benjamin (Debbie) Morris, Will (Murlene) Morris, Patricia Hoffman, John Trudell, Dennis (Bernadine) Trudell, Tom Trudell, Jim (Julie) Trudell, Mike (Mary) Trudell, Patricia Trudell, Christine (Victor) Atherton, Yvonne Trudell and Tony (Janice) Trudell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his soulmate Mary Anne Morris, his parents William Harvey and Della Morris, his brother Earl Morris, and sisters Bonnie Ludwig and Joanne Garred.

Simon is a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the Marines, achieving a Meritorious Combat Promotion to the rank of Corporal. He is also a veteran of Operation Desert Strom where he served honorably in the Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. He joined the Michigan Department of Corrections in 1979 where he was a loyal and trusted employee retiring as a Sergeant after nineteen years of service. 

A Celebration of his Life Mass will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Friday May 26, 2023, at 10:30 am with Father Tim Nelson officiating.  Visitation will be held at Watson Funeral Home on Thursday May 25, 2023, from 4pm - 7pm and at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Friday May 26, 2023, 10am - 10:30am prior to the Mass.  There will be a luncheon immediately following mass in St. Mary Star Hall below the church.
