It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Lusby, age 66, who left us peacefully at her home in Jackson on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Born on December 28, 1957, in Jackson, MI, she was the beloved daughter of Justus and Virginia Hayes.
Shirley was a devoted wife to Gale Lusby Sr. and a cherished mother to her children: Gale Jr. (Tonya), Brandy Molton (Eric), Don (Jasper), Scott (Kasey), Matt (Yasmine, Stormy), Adam (Brittnee McNally), Sarah Barkley (Chris), and Susan Asta (Jaime). Her legacy of love continues through her numerous grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Noah, Jacob, Leigh, Thomas, Madison, Jesse, Jake, Cadence, Brielle, Lennox, Matthew, Bryce, Elliana, Bently, AJ, Zarek, Colt, Enzlee, Hayes, Sylas, Josie, Liam, Javier, Angelina, Fidel, and Abran, as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Shirley is also survived by her sisters Sandra Fowler and Judy Hayes and brother Michael Hayes. She was preceded in death by her son Samule, her parents, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A proud graduate of Jackson High School, Shirley dedicated her working career to serving the community as a bus driver. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including camping, gardening, and cheering on her favorite NASCAR drivers. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, for whom she was a devoted and doting grandmother.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at Watson Funeral Chapel, located at 2590 Spring Arbor Rd, Jackson, MI, 49203, at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Visitation will take place at the same location starting at 12:00 PM. Pastor Tom Burgett will officiate the service.
Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
