Sandra Nelson Obituary

Sandra Sue Nelson of Jackson, Michigan passed away on March 25, 2025 at the age of 78.  She was preceded in death by her Mother, Jane Gale and Father, Fred Taylor.  She is survived by her Husband of 40 years, Thomas Nelson, Sisters Diana (Jim) Redmond and Colleen Walshak; Daughter Tricia Woodard, Son Wendall T. Woodard, Stepson Mathew Nelson; Grandchildren Ashley Woodard, Zacari Woodard, Mac Nearpass, and Emma Nelson; Great-Grandchildren, Raelynn Ahrens, Audrey Ahrens and Grayson Ahrens. 

Sandy has played a loving and enormous part in the raising and guidance of both Ashley and Raelynn with whom she shared a special bond.  The three of them shared many joyous memories especially the many times spent at their favorite beach in Boca Grande, Florida. 

When the 1963/1964 Class at Jackson High School was divided, Parkside High School was formed of which Sandy was a member of the first graduating class.  As an integral member of the reunion committee for 60 years.  Sandy was instrumental in keeping their reunions as one class.  She established and maintained the contact list for over 700 classmates and was influential in coordinating the 5-year reunion. Their 60-year class reunion was celebrated in 2024.

Sandy forged a successful career in the information technology field which she loved.  She retired from Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in 2018 as their Senior Auditor and Risk Analyst. 

Sandy loved her job, family, many friends and dogs. 

According to her request, cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, contributions are greatly appreciated and can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.
