Sallie Karle Obituary

Karle, Sallie I., of Jackson, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, age 90 years.

Sallie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bernard; her children, David (JoAnn) of Grass Lake, Mark (Julie) Karle, and Sharon (Rodney) Yearling, all of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Kathleen (Mikhail), Joseph (Sarah), Paul (Jessica), Mary Rose, Meghan (Alex), Zachary, Sabrina (Cody), and Michael; and five great-grandchildren, Lydia, Mathias, Eliza, Scarlett, and Killian. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Detroit, Sallie spent most of her life in Jackson. No one kept a home filled with love better than our wife and mom. Home was always impeccably neat, but filled with the warmth of her special touches. She was a wonderful cook and baker, but it was all simple and good, like her apple pies; not lavish. She was a beautiful woman, in her heart, and in every way important.

When she was young, she loved modern dance, even dancing at the now gone Veterans Memorial Building on the Detroit River. Most of all she loved her dear husband Bernie, and her children, grandchildren, and great grand kids. She used to wash her babies in the kitchen sink, for which she had perfected a special skill. She rescued her children who ran away by hiding behind the house chimney. She put up with polliwogs, frogs, toads, praying mantis, and even opening cocoons in the house where someone had stored them. She spent countless hours helping with school work, for her children and then grandchildren. She rode scooters and played frisbee with her grandkids. At Christmas she decorated the house so beautifully, it just sang of the glory of Jesus coming to save our world. She traveled modestly, but loved where she went, and always had a soft spot for Frankenmuth. She always took a joke well, and she was forever kind. Our wife and mom left her mark, and we will not forget her, and the world is a better place because of her.

Sallie was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Cinova, and her brother, Norbert Cinova. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Rest in peace mom, your trials are over, and we will see you again soon.
