Ruth was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother passing away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 in Jackson, Michigan surrounded by her family.
She was born in Fincastle, Kentucky on September 29, 1943 the daughter of Sterling Wilder and Elizabeth (King) Wilder. She married Elmer E. Ferris and together they shared 53 years of marriage, until his death on March 10, 2019. She was a homemaker caring for her family.
Her family moved to Michigan when she was 22 years old to take advantage of the fast-growing automotive industry in Detroit. The family settled in Jackson where most of them spent their entire lives.
She loved Elvis Presley and her dogs. She enjoyed watching movies (especially the “Lion King”), garage sales, shopping, vacations and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents, Sterling and Elizabeth Wilder, as well as siblings, Sterling Jr.; Betty; Geneva (Dee); Mary Charles; Woodrow; and Hazel. Ruth is survived by her children, Brenda (Robert) Drain, Michael (Debra) Ferris, Connie (John) Hooper, andConnie (Barry) Korcsmaros; grandchildren, Tiffany (Jerry) Ingall, Amber (Josh) Depweg, Jeffrey Warner (Tabatha Tonche); many great granddaughter and great-grandsons.
Per her family’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
