Roy Edwin “Ed” Wagner, age 71, of Jackson, Michigan, was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 3, 2025, surrounded by those he loved most.
Born on August 31, 1954, to Leola Lather and Roy Wagner, Ed spent his entire life in the Jackson area, where he built a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty. He graduated from Western High School and remained deeply rooted in his community, always making time for family and friends.
Ed was known for his sharp wit and infectious sense of humor that could light up any room. He had a passion for life that was reflected in everything he did—from cruising on his beloved Black Cherry Switchback Harley Davidson to cheering (and sometimes yelling) for the Detroit Lions. He found joy in golfing, watching NASCAR, and caring for the neighborhood animals, always making sure his home was a welcoming place for both people and pets.
In his younger years, Ed enjoyed bowling, golfing and showing off his Corvette. His love for animals was lifelong, but his sweet cat Sugar held a special place in his heart. Ed was a man of integrity who valued honesty above all else. He was a straight shooter, never afraid to speak the truth, and he took pride in mentoring his family on the values that truly matter in life.
Ed’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a loving family: his daughter Melissa Bowman; brothers Robin (Jody) Wagner and Ronald Wagner; nephews Jimmie (Michelle) Wagner, Justin Wagner, Rob Wagner, and Dusty Wagner; nieces Carrie (Bobby) Stokely, Jessica (Kent) McKimmy, and Melanie (Tracy) Ball; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Leola Lather, stepfather William Lather, father Roy Wagner, brother Bob Wagner, niece Sarah Wagner, nephew Tracy Ball, and great-nephew Tyler Ball.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at noon. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Ed to join in honoring his life and legacy.
