Rosalie Ann McMurtrie

Rosalie “Rosie” Ann McMurtrie, 80, of Parma, MI passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 24, 2020. She was born on February 27, 1940 to Olin and Dorothy Harwood. She graduated from Parma High School in 1958. She retired from the Western School District as a librarian and attendance clerk after 18 years of service.

On February 14, 1959, Rosie married her best friend and travel companion of 61.5 years, Wes Marvin McMurtrie. Together they proudly raised five children David (Cathy) McMurtrie, Denise (Craig) Owens, Debbie (John) Williams, Danielle (Matthew) Clawson, and Desiree (Brent) Bartley. They have thirteen grandsons - David (Kayli), Jason (Amanda), Daniel (Breanna), Rylon, Korey (Amanda), Johnathan (Chelsea), Joseph (Stephanie), Garrett, Gavin, Dylan, Colton, Tucker, Myles, and three granddaughters - Jessica (Kevin), Katie (Anthony), and Allorie, and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Rosie leaves behind a legacy of love and strength for her family and surrounding community. She was a proud Republican, an active member of the ladies lunch club, which included her lifelong best friend, Pixie Sterrett. She will forever be remembered for her love of ceramics that she proudly shared with others. She enjoyed cooking for a crowded table of family and friends, holding her beloved pup, Razzy, vacationing in Holland with Wes, spending moments in her craft room sewing and embroidering, soaking up laughter and making memories with family. She will truly be missed by us all. Rosie is preceded in death by her parents Olin & Dorothy Harwood, brother Larry Harwood, and grandson Colton Aukerman. Per Rosie’s wishes, in lieu of a formal service, a private celebration of life will be held.
