Ronald Dean King of Leslie, MI passed away at home on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the age of 88. Ronald was the son of Elmer and Viola (Rhodes) King, born June 14, 1934 in Kalkaska, MI. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Donna King; two daughters, Barbara (Kim) Shepherd and Rhonda (Ralph) Edwards; one son, Curt (Sue) King; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lavern (Shirley) King, and Richard King; one sister, Donna (Doug) Barnett; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ronald was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon King Maynard; sister, Delores (Jack) Slocum; brother, Tommy (Jean) King; and his parents.
He was graduate of Leslie High School Class of 1952. After high school, he went to serve his county honorably in the United States Army. Following his service, he went to work and retire after 28 years of service as a Corrections Officer. Ronald then went to work for Brinks for four years, and Harry Jones Septic Tank Service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 491 in Leslie. Ronald loved the outdoors, especially to go fishing, hunting, gardening, and camping. He also enjoyed roofing and woodworking. Ronald will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00am with Michael D. Mason officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 491, 422 Woodworth St., Leslie, MI 49251. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of service.
