Robert William McCarrell, age 98 1/2, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 31st, 2023. Robert (Bob) was the son of John W. and Ruth McCarrell, born on June 2, 1925 in Oak Park, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine (Ordway) of 75 years, his son, Paul, his parents, his sisters, Dorothy (Ralph) Brown, Evelyn (Jim) Calhoun, and his brother, Jack (Katy) McCarrell. He is survived by his children, David (Nancy) McCarrell, Mark (Lisa) McCarrell, and Sharon (Doug) Moxon: 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandsons, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Bob graduated from Jackson High, class of 1947. Before graduating he served in the Navy in WWII on the mine sweeper, U.S.S. Staunch. Bob worked at Yard Man, The Kitchen Shop, and retired from Aeroquip (Eaton). Bob loved spending time at church, singing in the choir and in quartets. He enjoyed camping with his family, playing softball and tennis. Vacationing at Silver Lake, Acapulco and Florida. Bob loved tinkering and fixing things. He will be greatly missed by all who know him. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his life will be held at Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson, on Saturday, Jan 20th, 2024 at 11 am. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 am.
