Richard passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Henry Ford Hospice House at the age of 97.  Richard was the son of Edward Collins and Nellie Stoldt born December 24, 1926 in Kalamazoo, MI.   Richard graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1945.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946.  He married his high school sweetheart, Marion Lucille Reynolds, and they shared 69 years together.  He retired from Consumer’s Energy after 35 years of service.  Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  His family meant everything to him and he was loved dearly.  He loved watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.  He was an avid golfer with 4 hole in ones and his last one coming at age 87 years old.  He was a huge University of Michigan football and basketball fan, along with the Detroit Lions and Tigers.

Richard is survived by two children David Collins and Nancy (Jacob) Toskey; two granddaughters, Kelly (Vincent) Castiglione and Lindsay (Blake) Smith; two great-grandchildren, Adrianna and Vincent Castiglione.  Richard was preceded in death by his wife Marion.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5th with a Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024 in the Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Rd, Jackson, MI 49203 with Pastor Bill Dodge officiating.  Richard will be laid to rest next to his wife at Fort Custer National Cemetery.   Please express your condolences to the family at www.watson-funeral-chapels.com.
