Richard Lee Strunk went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 1, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. Richard was born on May 15, 1940 In Jackson, Michigan to Don and Mary Strunk. Richard, is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Connie, daughter Cheryl (Shannon) Cramer, brother Eldon (Judy) Strunk, two nieces Stephanie McCourtie and Stacy Kimball. Richard, was proceeded in death by his parents Don and Mary Strunk and one nephew Scott Strunk. Richard was a school teacher for 30 years with the Jackson Public school system, he served as city commissioner for many years, Mayor of Jackson for one term, served on several planning commissions and helped rewrite the City Charter. Richard was a life-long member of Ganson Street Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher as well as a deacon for many years. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their care as well as his care team Ashley Cooper, Ashton Wilde and Jennifer Jones. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Ganson Street Baptist Church and Heart to Heart Hospice.
Services to be held at Ganson Street Baptist Church with Reverend Allen Grover officiating on Monday, March 10, 2025 with visitation beginning at 10:00am and memorial service following at 11:00am. A private internment for family will take place at Roseland Cemetery.
