Richard “Dick” Ralph Standley, of Spring Arbor, Michigan also known by his grandchildren as “Poppie", passed away on October 20, 2025.
Dick was born on November 5, 1939, in Manchester, Michigan to Francis Dewey Standley and Olive Helen McGee.
Upon finishing ninth grade, he worked his entire life until retirement. Dick worked at Wrigley’s grocery until they closed and then worked as a Lite Metal Diecast for several years before retiring from Guardian Fiberglass after 15 years.
He was happily married to his sweetheart, Janet Elaine Voorheis, and they recently celebrated their 64th Anniversary on October 14, 2025. They met one another through mutual friends and became proud parents to their children. They loved their children dearly and especially loved being grandparents even more.
Dick loved woodworking. He made many wonderful pieces for friends and his family. He taught his son, Jeff woodworking and they often did projects together. He loved camping up north in Petosky, and was a troop leader for the Boy Scouts in Spring Arbor in the early 1980’s.
Dick is survived by his wife, Janet Standley; Daughter, Vicki (Greg) Lange; three granddaughters, Ashlee (Sean) Trombley, and their two daughters, Evalynn and Esther; Haylee (Jacob) Simpkins and their son, Jasper; Jennafer Lange and her boyfriend, Tyler Iveson; Daughter-in-law, Kelly Standley; Brother Gene (June) Standley; Henry Antone, and Mary Morton; Sister-in-law, Lynna Voorheis; Brother-in-Law, Marvin Batterson and life-long friend, Marge Herman.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jeff Standley; Sisters, Mary McGee; Carol Batterson; Brother-in-law, Lewis Voorheis; life-long friend, Jerry Herman; sister-in-law, Marty Antone; and brother-in-law, Bob Morton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 10:00am at Watson Funeral Chapel – 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson. Service will be held beginning at 11:00am with Reverend Timothy Flickinger, Officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dick’s honor to Cascades Humane Society and Jackson County Animal Shelter.
