Richard Spangler Obituary

Richard Spangler, 89, Jackson, formally of Albion, MI went home to be with the Lord on July 28th, 2020. Born April 16th, 1931 he is preceded in death by his parents Elmer Spangler and Emma (Shedrow) Spangler as well as his sister Mary Ellen Castle-Burkholder. Richard was a very special person who’s challenges served as an inspiration to all the people that knew him. Seeing how happy he was visiting with family and caretakers always taught our family and immeasurable lesson of compassion, that the simplest things in life can always bring us the most joy. Like a great cup of coffee or a new toy. He enjoyed time outside in nature and going for long rides, laughing and visiting with family and especially the holidays. Richard is survived by his brother Don Spangler of Parma, lots of nephews and nieces. Tom Spangler of Albion, Scott Spangler of Phoenix AZ, Kathy Wills and children of Grand Rapids, Sara Spangler-Whitmire of Jackson, Tommy Spangler of Jackson and Nicholas Spangler of Parma, MI.

The family will honor his life with a private burial service at River Side Cemetery in Albion with Pastor Steve Meszaros officiating. The family sends many thanks for condolences and requests that any memorial contributions in Richard’s honor be sent to Jackson County Medical Care Facility.
