Richard Lee Parsons Jr. of Jackson, MI passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the age of 73. He was the son of Richard and Alice (Granger) Parsons, born September 22, 1947 in Jackson, MI. Mr. Parsons is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jackie Parsons; two daughters, Tracy (Andy Corravo) Wood, and Amy (Paul) McMichael; grandchildren, Christopher (Jeff) Lowe, Taylor Wood, Layla McMichael, Raelin McMichael, Ewen McMichael, and Kade McMichael; and one great-grandson on the way, Isaiah.; brother, Herbert (Yung-Uy) Parsons; and several nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Kathy, Patty, and Sherry. Mr. Parsons attended Jackson High School. Following high school, he joined United States Army where he served his country honorably in Vietnam. After his service, he worked for McGowan Electric Supply for over 45 years. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, and American Legion Post 29. Mr. Parsons enjoyed watching NASCAR, MSU Football, old Westerns, and Animal Planet. He loved to drive whether it was on his lawn mower or taking a trip Up-North. Mr. Parsons could be found having breakfast on Tuesdays with his military friends. He was known for his sense of humor, never meeting a stranger, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mott Children’s Hospital Pediatric Cancer.
