Richard Davis Obituary

Richard “Dick” David Davis, born December 14, 1942, in Albion, Michigan, to Russell and Marjorie Davis, passed away at the age of 82 on May 16, 2025, surrounded by family.

Dick led a life full of service to his community and his family. He received his GED from Western High School 1984. Dick then served the Village of Parma as Street Superintendent for 35 years, as well as a Parma-Sandstone firefighter for more than 25 years. Dick was dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Scout Leader to Troop 155 for more than 10 years. He was a member of the Free Masons, the Jaycees, and sat on the board for the Jackson Civil War Muster. Later in life, Dick was a sub- contractor for the United States Postal Service, ensuring mail was transported around the state of Michigan. A lover of classic cars, Dick also worked at the American Auto Auction. In his spare time, Dick loved watching Michigan State Spartans football and basketball. He spent years woodworking and was known for his beautiful Christmas wood crafts. Dick enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, especially of National Parks and other historical landmarks. Dick most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. After visits both short and long, he would always tell them to come again when they could stay awhile. Dick knew he wanted to give to others, even in death, so he arranged to donate tissue to the Gift of Life of Michigan.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Marjorie (Jones) Davis and his brother Ed Davis.

Dick is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife Joyce (Tasker) of 55 years; his children Kim (Jim) Dryer, Rick (Holly Vaughn) Davis, and Krista (Rob) Whiting; his siblings Russell (Joyce) Davis and Suzanne Sackrider; and Bill Thornton, a dear friend to whom Dick was like a brother.

Known as “Pa,” Dick will be forever cherished and remembered by his grandchildren Dakota Uncapher, Doug Dryer, Katy Dryer, Nick Dryer, Jonathon Freeman, Tori (Ryan) Smith, Caleb (Grace) Whiting, Nick (Madelyn Wade) Potts, Justin (Christina Bailey) Vaughn, George (Stephanie) Vaughn IV, and Riley (Kris Foote) Vaughn. His memory lives on with his great-grandchildren Haleigh, George V, Levi, Lacy, Dimitri, Roman, Amelia, Evelyn Barber, Maeve, Evelyn Wade, and Emberlynn.
