Reva Mae Whitford of Spring Arbor, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Henry Ford Hospice in Jackson, MI., at the age of 87. Reva was the oldest daughter of Eugene Raymond and Regina Ann (Schimmoller) Brown born December 28, 1934 in Shepherd, MI.
She is survived by four children, Nanette L. (Kevin) Embury, Cheryl L. (David) Cooper, Melinda S. (William) Muller of Pennsylvania, and Calvin E. (Michelle) Whitford of Texas; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole) Embury, Chelsea Embury, Darren Embury, Darek Cooper (Fiancée, Ashleigh Pennington), Mathew Cooper, Elizabeth Muller, Michael Muller, Jonathan Whitford, and Kaitlyn Whitford; two great-grandchildren, Kayla Embury and Alison Embury; sister, Mary Elizabeth (Brown) Kralik; sister-in-law, Patricia Brown; many nieces and nephews. Reva was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Nathan Ernest Whitford in 2018; her parents; and brother, Jay Edward Brown.
Reva attended M.S.U. She was a homemaker caring for her husband, children, making a loving home. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and canning. She was an active volunteer with various organizations, including Girl Scouts and the Christian Women’s Club in Texas. She was a member of First Church of Christ (Christian), now Cornerstone Christian Church.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Homegoing Celebration of her Life will be held at Cornerstone Christian Church, 2395 W. High St., Jackson, MI on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Michael D. Mason officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 12:00 Noon Saturday at church. Interment will be later in Seville Township Cemetery in Gratiot County, MI. Contributions in memory of Reva may be made to Cornerstone Christian Church.
