Raymond John Mierzwa

Raymond John Mierzwa, age 70 of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. He was the son of John and Chloie Mierzwa born on October 14, 1951 in Jackson, MI. He is survived by his wife Barbara of 49 years; 2 daughters Amy (Chris) Rogers and Erin (Derrick) White; 6 grandchildren Drew, Hailey, Olivia, Emily, Avery and Luke; siblings Tom (Sally) Mierzwa, Janet Beilfuss, and Mary Jane (Dennis) Chaffin; in-laws Leo (Donna) Thomas, Theresa (Paul) Brown, Jeff (Kathy) Thomas and David (Deana) Thomas; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Ellie. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Leo and Eileen Thomas, and brother-in-law Daniel Thomas.

Ray graduated from Rets Electronic School in Detroit. He was employed at Harris-McBurney, Engineer at Alltel Phone Company in Stockbridge for 24 years, Freeze Technician at Universal Hydro-Test-Freeze Tech, and a delivery driver at Henry Ford Hospital. He enjoyed woodworking and was an advanced Master Gardener.  He was a Big Brother to Tim Jarrett. Ray was a member of the East Jackson School Board, the Knights of Columbus and the East Jackson Lions Club.

There will be Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 1:00pm at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 1111 Carlton Blvd, Jackson MI with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. Visitation will be at the church from noon until the time of service. Memorial gifts may be sent to Lumen Christi Catholic School Girls’ Athletics, 3483 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson MI 49203.
