Phillip Michael Fracker of Jackson, MI went home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2022. Phillip (Phil) was the son of Stanley Jr. and Esther (Bamm) Fracker, born on October 9, 1945 in Jackson, MI. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Susan (Peek) Fracker; children, Daniel (Amy) Fracker, Matthew (Amanda) Fracker; grandchildren, Kieran, Amelia; siblings, Stanley III (Helga) Fracker, Richard (Lynne) Fracker, Ellen (Rick) McKenzie; brother-in-law, Byron (Thelma) Peek; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Jr. and Esther Fracker; his beloved grandson, Luke Fracker; and siblings, Anne Marie Fracker, Ronald Fracker.
Phil graduated from Michigan Center High School in 1963 and went on to the United States Military Academy at West Point and graduated in 1967. Phil served in Vietnam in 1969 with the United States Army and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star. He then spent his working career as the Director of the Jackson Housing Commission. Phil was a lifelong Lutheran and an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he loved serving and spending time with his church family. He was also involved with Witness IV with friends Jack Gahagan and Geoff Williams, New Wine singing group, Jackson Chorale, Guys and Dolls Dance Club, CROP/CWS for World Hunger, Immanuel food pantry, and many other organizations. Phil enjoyed singing, playing guitar, crossword puzzles, the Detroit Tigers, University of Michigan sports, Army football, bird watching, walking, and ice cream. He was beloved by his friends and family.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1505 W Michigan Ave, Jackson, MI on Tuesday April 19, 2022 11:00am, with Reverend Kate Schroeder officiating. Interment will be held at North Dover Cemetery in Clayton, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran World Relief, 700 Light St, Baltimore, MD. Visitation will be on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Rd, Jackson, MI from 4:00-7:30pm and Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10:00am until the time of service.
