Philip Edward Kinney

On August 8, 2018, Philip Edward Kinney passed away in peace at the age of 61. Born on May 20, 1957, Phil was the son of Tom and Carol Kinney. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Melissa, sons Jeffrey (Emily), Joshua, and Derek ( Kelsey Gilbert); siblings Cheryl (Pat) Battistelli, Brenda Hall, Laura (Brian) McGettrick, and Steve (Tracy) Kinney; grandchildren Stella and Luke Kinney. He was an active volunteer with many organizations throughout his life including the Jackson Area Hockey Association, VITA, and Hospice. He was an active member of the Jackson YMCA and enjoyed spending time with his three dogs Toby, Jack, and Daisy. A special thanks to the friends, family members, and neighbors for all of their acts of kindness and support, especially Linda Nabozny.

Visitation will take place Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 1-5 pm at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, Michigan. There will be a brief visitation at 10 am followed by a celebration of life at 11 am on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Jackson Free Methodist Church, 2829 Park Road, Jackson, Michigan officiated by Pastor Tim Flickinger.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Phil’s name to the Jackson Optimist Club, 1300 West North Street, Jackson, Michigan.
