Petra Canafax

Petra (Geiss) Canafax, Age 65 of Jackson, Michigan passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Trinity Health Hospital in Ann Arbor surrounded by her family. 

She was the daughter of Rudolf and Emmi Geiss, born March 8, 1960 in Urberach, Germany. 

Petra is survived by her husband of 38 years, James Canafax and their children; son, Uwe (Darcie) Saefkow; Daughter, Cindy Feilert; Son Alan (Mary) Canafax; Son Daniel Canafax; Granddaughter Kaily Feilert; Grandson, Caleb Feilert; Grandson, Jacob Ackerman; Granddaughter, Sophia Feilert; Granddaughter, Alexis Canafax; Grandson, Atley Saefkow; Sister, Marina Sofie; Cousins, Jerome Hansen; Naile Hansen Rothenberg; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as an abundance of close friends who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolf and Emmi Geiss, along with her brother, Roland Geiss. 

Petra graduated from school in Rodermark, Germany and worked in healthcare for 30+ years.  She enjoyed activities such as gardening, traveling, crafting, puzzling and was an active outdoor enthusiast. 

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Life will be held on August 16, 2025 at 1000 West Morrell Street, Jackson, Michigan from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Wild Life Foundation or any Veteran Organization.
