Peter “Pete” C. Whitehead, 83, of Jackson, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on April 1st, 2023. Pete was a generous, kind, and lovable man who will be deeply missed and remembered. His smile was contagious, along with his goofy humor. Pete made sure those around him were taken care of and always offered a helping hand. His family has peace knowing he is now with his savior, Jesus Christ.
Pete was born on September 13th, 1939 to Albert and Erma (Moss) Whitehead in Troy, Ohio. After Pete graduated from East Jackson High School in 1958, he went on to serve in the US Armed Forces. Pete took great pride in being a veteran. After serving in the Army for three years, Pete worked at Aeroquip as a hose fitter for many years. In 1961, Pete met his wife Edda while stationed in Germany. They went on to raise four children together – Joerg Whitehead, Joyce (Phil) Iott, Jane (Andy) Adcock, and Jeanette (Marc) Humphreys.
Once Pete retired, he spent his time reading about history, staying updated on the news, watching high school sports, eating his favorite foods, donating to various charities, playing cards, and most importantly enjoying time with his family.
Peter Whitehead had 13 siblings; he was preceded in death by 11 of them- James, John, Albert “Junior,” Jerel, Joyce, William “Bill,” Lily, Edward, George, David, and Alice. He is survived by two siblings - Tracey “Granny” and Neil. Pete leaves behind eight adoring grandchildren – Ian Whitehead, Caleb Iott, Asa and Anaise Rivera, Jessie Adcock, Marcus, Maddie, and Morgan Humphreys. Pete was loved by countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or an organization of your choice.
