Obituary

Age 85 of Arbor Springs, MI, passed away on March 24, 2021 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home.  She was the daughter of Bruce Washington and Annie Zora (Johnson) Dyer.  She was born on March 20, 1936 in Union City, TN.  Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, William, after 47 years of marriage. She is survived by children, Gregory W. (Belle Alsphaugh) Newsom, Ricky N. Newsom, Cathy J. (Allan) Fisher, Jeffery B. (Cecilia “Sally”) Newsom; step-children, Jack (Collette) Bauman, Bruce (Kris Stableford) Bauman, and Beth Bauman; grandchildren, Mellownie (Michael) Hufford, Brent Newsom, Kelly (Jake) Hock, Phylicia Newsom; step-grandchildren, Amy Bauman-Dontje (Neil Dontje), Karen (John) Gyger, Erin Halloran, Alexander (Tatkince) Pushman, Clara Stableford-Bauman (Noah Parnell), Daniel Haris Bauman (Mackenzie Nemens), Rosalie Kristine Bauman, Drew (Kristen McCauliff) Shermeta, Peter (Rachael) Shermeta, Lesley (Adam) Terminella, Alison (Cagney Gentry) Shermeta; great-grandchildren, Joshua (Rachel) Hufford, Jacob Hufford, Dylan McCormick, Sierra McCormick, Carli Berry, Halle Newsom, Aiden Cambell, Annabelle Cambell; step-great-grandchildren, Blair and McKenna Hock, CJ, Hailey, and Jake Bauman, Danielle Lily, and Luke Gyger, Weston and Stella Halloran, Aubrey Pushman, Tianna Brandenberry, Marlowe, Sloane, and Callen Shermeta, Claire and Andy Terminella, and Iris, Sylvie, and Leo Gentry; great great-grandchild, Hazel Jean Hufford; sister, Ann Veghte; nieces, Jill, Julie, Tracey, Ann, and Amy; nephews, David, Joel, Aaron, and Alan; special friends, Dorothy, Mary, Joni and Elsa.   She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Bruce Dyer Jr, and granddaughter, Crystal McCormick.  Peggy retired as a U. S. Postal Carrier and proud to be the first lady postal carrier at the Plymouth Post Office.  After retirement she worked at the Penn Theatre and Sparrs Flower Shop.  She enjoyed ceramics, bowling, golfing, swimming and reading novels. There will be a time of visitation on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10:00am- 1:30pm at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, MI.  Following the visitation interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Honors.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2265 Livernois Road, Troy MI 48083.
