Nicholas L Merritt

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nicholas Merritt, Age 39, of Concord, Michigan who died tragically in a car accident on June 19, 2025.

Born on March 13, 1986, Nicholas, known to many as “Nick”, was a loving son, devoted father, loyal brother, and cherished friend.  He worked at Continental Carbonic Products, where he was known for his reliability, dedication, and strong work ethic.

Nick’s greatest pride and joy were his children, Octavia and Troy, whom he loved beyond words.  He is survived by his mother, Denise Wilder; his sister Mandy (Anthony); niece and nephew, Isabella and Cameron; half-siblings, Amy, Gary Jr., and Scott, and their families; grandmother, Helen, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Merritt; grandparents, Andy and Velma Merritt; Harry Wright, and step-father, Rick Wilder.

A passionate fan of Michigan Wolverines Football, Nick also cheered faithfully for the Detroit Lions, Detroit Red Wings  and the Chicago Cubs, teams that reflected his resilient and hopeful spirit.  Those who knew Nick will remember his sharp sense of humor, his loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.

He will be deeply missed, and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held on June 30, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm and on July 1, 2025 from 10:00am until the time of service at Watson Funeral Chapel – 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, Michigan.  Service will start at 11:00am with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery in Concord.
