Age 90 of Jackson, MI, passed away on May 16, 2022 at home. Nancy was born March 2, 1932. She left this world to join her husband of 63 years, Robert J. Shaughnessy, loving daughter Patricia Shaughnessy, her parents Wilfred and Florence Dunigan and brother James Dunigan. She leaves behind her to cherish her memory her children Kathy (Jack) Hutchins; grandchildren Shawn (Jennifer) Hutchins, Jessica France, Wanda Johnson, Shemariah (Chad) Cruppenink, Pat Shaughnessy (deceased) grandchildren Craig Ruoff, Laura North, Daniel Loring (Tina); Sue (Dale) Walker, grandchildren Jeremy (Lamia) Walker, Rebecca (Jeff) Youtsey; Mary (Greg Sr.), Forner grandchildren Greg Jr., Samantha Forner (Andrew Wilson);Margaret (Thomas) Porter, grandchildren Sarah (Nicholas) Oleksy, Andrew (Sarah Ann) Weaver, Dustin Weaver, Andrea (Shandon) Herendeen, Jeffery (Nicki) Porter; Robert (Sally) Shaughnessy, grandchildren Elizabeth (Joe) Hankis, Sally (Tom) Rice, grandchildren Jason (Sherry) Rice; Jonathan (Angela) Rice; sister Mary Meyer and brother John (Sandy) Dunigan; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends
She was a life-time member of St. Mary’s church and volunteered in many areas, she enjoyed working at the Linen Closet and cooking meals for funeral luncheons of many parish families, a member of the Marion Circle, and of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was on the Board of The Friendly Home for a number of years. She retired as the Activities Director at Vista Grande villa after 20 years of service, she loved working and socializing with people, a member of Red Hats, travel was a passion and had many hobbies, reading, sewing, knitting hats for the hospital and schools, her favorite was playing games and cards, she was hard to beat, we loved to hear her laugh. All were blessed who knew her.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 10 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 120 E. Wesley Street, Jackson, MI. with Father Timothy Nelson officiating. Memorial gifts may be given to Angel of Mine Home Care Agency, 950 W. Monroe St., G300A, Jackson, MI 49202.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday June 8, 2022 from 5-8 PM with the Recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 PM at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, MI and on Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
