Myra Louise Rice

Of North Adams, MI went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the age of 76.  She was the daughter of William and Beulah (Morton) Kalafus, born May 5, 1943 in Jackson, MI. Myra is survived by her three children, James (Christine) Rice, Carey Young, and Stephanie Rice;  seven grandchildren, Khrystyana Camarena, Antonio Camarena, Rachel (Austin) Wideman, Jesse Winklepleck, Austin Young, Walter Rice, and Lorelei Rice; brother, Rudy (Lois) Kalafus; sister, Mary Gault; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rice; and her parents.

Myra was graduate of Jackson High School Class of 1961. After high school she attended Jackson Junior College and the University of Michigan. Myra worked for many years at Aeroquip Corporation performing various roles, including office manager. She enjoyed hiking, gardening, bird watching, ice racing, and traveling. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and going up-north to the cabin in Harrison, MI. Myra loved to spend time with her family. She will be missed and loved by all who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 1111 Carlton Blvd., Jackson, MI 49203 on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 1:00pm with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. Cremation will follow the mass and a private inurnment at St. John Catholic Cemetery will take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society-Mid Michigan, 1755 Abbey Road, East Lansing, MI 48823.

The family will receive friends at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 6:00-8:00pm and at the church on Friday from 12:00pm until the time of mass.
