Mickey Jean Cooper of Jackson, MI passed away at home in the arms of her family on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the age of 83. She was the daughter of Beryl Gilson and Betty (Eldo Reed) Reed-Gilson, born March 12, 1938 in Battle Creek, MI. Mickey is survived by her children, Traci Cooper, Gary Cooper Jr, and David Cooper; grandchildren, Erin, Gary III; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Kaiden; cousins, Randy (Zara), Ashley, Brooklyn; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate of 42 years, Gary; brother, Richard Reed; aunt and uncle, Rose and Roy Spohn; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mickey graduated from Charlotte High School. She worked as a bookkeeper before starting her own business, Mickey’s Slender You Figure Salon. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi of Jackson and was also involved with the local Bi-Sentinel Parade. Mickey enjoyed the water, exercise, especially walking in Vandercook and Alpena, caring for and rescuing animals, giving and donating to various organizations, and spending quality time with her husband, where they often went boating and ate at many restaurants. She was also known to be a “snappy dresser” and an avid Mickey Mouse fan. A Celebration of her Life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1505 W Michigan Ave, Jackson, MI, on Thursday October 14, 2021 at 11:00am with Pastor Kate Schroeder officiating. Interment will be at Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Dr, Jackson, MI. The family will receive friends at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 10:00am until the time of service.
