Michael (Mike) S. Avery of Jackson, went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 10, 2024. He was born in Jackson to Carl and Harriett Avery 80 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Beverly A. Avery, with 47 years marriage, son Paul Avery (Pam), daughters Anne Jafery, Deborah Avery (Rebecca), grandchildren Reza Jafery (Arianna), Isa Jafery, Travis Daniels (Jenny), Haley Chartrand (Jake), Derik Avery (Kara), Zoe Avery Sutter, Lauren Avery, great-grandchildren Natalie Daniels, James Avery, Cooper Chartrand, Ava Daniels, brothers Phillip Avery (Jacque), Charles Avery, sister Sandra Muckler (Stephen), several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl Avery, Jr, Robert Avery, Donald Avery, sisters-in-law Sandra Avery, Claire Avery, Jean Avery, cousins Robert Avery, Keith Avery.
He graduated from Jackson High School and Spring Arbor University. He worked at Consumers Energy Company for 33 years. Mike had a great sense of humor with a quick wit. He had a good singing voice and delighted in sharing with any public audience (even to the embarrassment of his kids). He liked reading westerns and losing himself in sci-fi or action movies. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Dubai, Wisconsin, Colorado and Arizona. And he loved eating donuts! He will be dearly missed by his family and friends including his cat Boo.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, MI. There will be visitation on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home and one-hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Roseland Memorial Gardens following the service.
