Michael Prater

Michael Prater, Age 73 of Spring Arbor, Michigan passed away suddenly on Monday October 28, 2024, at his home.  Michael was the son of the late Ervin and Bertie Conley Prater born September 7, 1951. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years Janice (Brierly) Prater. His Daughters Amy (Adam) Krasny, Lori (Joe) Hastings, and Monica Prater. His Stepchildren Aaron Camp, April (Ray) Baxter, and Adam (Joyce) Camp. His grandchildren Mara (Kyle) Coffey, Zandria Krasny, Caylee Prater, Lee Hastings, and Malaya Prater.  His Great Grandson “Cool hand” Luke Coffey. His Brothers Tim (Pam) Prater, Ted Prater and his sister Emily (Moe) Sullivan and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Daniel Prater and Johnny Prater.

He graduated from Western High School, Class of 1969. He spent many years working as a mechanic and a handyman. He was an avid member of the Early Ford V8 Club. He enjoyed restoring classic vehicles, trips to the casino, fishing, talking politics “fight, fight, fight”, watching the Detroit Lions and Michigan State Spartans and numerous trips with his beloved wife and friends Ken (Teri) Datte and Paul (Chris) Rebescher. 

A Celebration of his Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday November 9, 2024, at The Arbor Church, 120 E. Main Street, Spring Arbor, Michigan. Please feel free to wear something Detroit Lions or Michigan State Spartans to the Celebration of Life to honor Mike. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Red Cross North Carolina Hurricane Relief.
