Merle Lee Blackmun

Merle Lee Blackmun of Jackson, passed away May 7, 2024 age 94 years.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara, two sons Phillip (Pia) Folkler, Mark Blackmun and his fiancé Susan, one granddaughter, Jessica Blackmun, three grandsons; Andrew, William and Jacob Folkler. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean War, retired as Captain from the Jackson Fire Department and was an avid golfer winning multiple city and county tournaments, also along with Bill White won many best ball tournaments.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. Friends who wish may make contributions to the Jackson County Animal Shelter 3370 Spring Arbor Rd. Jackson, MI 49203 or the Cascades Humane Society 1515 Carmen Dr. Jackson, MI 49202.
