Melody Lou Chapman

Melody Lou Chapman, of Spring Arbor, Michigan, passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 7, 2026 in her home under the care of hospice after a battle with cancer at the age of 66.

She was born February 24, 1960 in Jackson, Michigan to Joyce (Richard) Jenkins. 

Melody was a graduate of Northwest High School, Class of 1978, and later returned to Northwest Community Schools where she worked as a custodian for 28 years, with 26 years as their union representative until her retirement in 2018.

Melody married Bruce Chapman on May 17, 1980 and were married for 46 years until her passing.

Together, they enjoyed their road trips, and loved spending time with her family and grandkids. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, and planting pretty flowers. 

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; son, Brent (Sarah) Chapman; daughter, Tiffany Walker, and grandchildren, Kailee, Carter, and Brixton; sister, Marlene (Larry) Smith; brother, Harry Miles, Jr.; step-sister, Pam (Carl) Boatman; step-brothers, Tim Jenkins and Jim Jenkins; brother-in-law, Dan (Sheryl) Chapman; uncle, Don Spangler, and aunt & uncle, Glenn (Donnie) Spangler.   

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joyce (Richard) Jenkins; step-brother, Richard Jenkins; father-in-law, Selah Chapman and mother-in-law, Avis Chapman. 

Melody was loved so much and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. 

Visitation will be held at Watson Funeral Chapel – 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 5:00-7:00pm and again on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Watson Funeral Chapel from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Pastor Brad Smith, Officiating, with burial immediately following the service at Spring Arbor Cemetery, Spring Arbor, Michigan.
