Miller, Max Dean - Jackson, Michigan
On Sunday, Sept 18, 2022 as Max would’ve said, his “Chev-vee took a chit”. Quoting from Escanaba in da Moonlight. His humor and gift of gab will never be forgotten. He never met a stranger and could talk to anybody about anything.
Born February 11, 1935 to the late Allen & Edna (Reardon) Miller and joined his brother at home, the late, Dale Miller. He graduated from Jackson High in 1952. Married his beautiful bride, who proceeded him in death, Darlene (Hamilton) in June of 1957. He tore down the one room schoolhouse he had attended to build his lifelong home, raising his daughters who survive him. Vicki (Mark) Weiss and Kristi (Ron) Inman. Grandchildren, Joshua (Amy) Miller, Kelsi Inman, as well as Chris Inman and his boys, Ethan and Marcus. Nephew Gary Miller and Niece Laurie Miller, and not to forget his kitty Bleu.
Max’s wide range of talents allowed him to work at Kelsey Hayes, the railroad, Carr Bros. and Baileys to name a few of the excavating companies. He could run cranes, draglines, backhoes, graders and counted at least 9 different types of bulldozers he’d run. He was a 50+ year member of the IUOE Local 324.
24 years served as a Seabee Navy Reservist. Member of Sandstone Congregational Church. He was instrumental in reestablishing the Austin Blair Camp #7 of the SUVCW holding Camp Commander position at one time during his 25+ year membership.
Besides always being willing to help family and friends, he loved wood working, bowling, playing poker, cribbage, traveling, fishing, hunting and spent many hours restoring and working on civil war stones.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Sandstone Congregational Church, 710 S. Sandstone Road, Jackson, MI on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 11:00am with Pastors Smith and Neirer officiating.
