Mary “Collette” Reed-O’Dell passed away on January 8, 2025 at the age of 80. Collette was born on March 22, 1944 in Jackson MI the daughter of James “Bud” and Lillian Admire (Shirley).
Collette attended Jackson schools graduating with the class of 1963. She worked in retail and factory jobs throughout her life. Her most treasured time was the time she spent at Gay-La Sales with Tupperware. Collette enjoyed spending time with people. Making people smile and laugh. She loved to hear people’s stories and about their lives, dreams, and families. In her younger years she enjoyed camping trips with the family and her first husband Tom Reed. They had a converted old school bus that they shared many adventures on. Collette was blessed to stay close to the Reed family even after she and Tom divorced. Collette enjoyed music, laughter, and people. When her girls were younger Collette assisted with the youth group at church. She enjoyed spending time going on adventures with the youth, being a friend, a smile, a hug or a listening ear as many young adults found their way, growing their faith and learning how to move into adulting. Collette surrounded herself with music and love. She enjoyed listening to her vinyl records and dancing whether it be around the house or with friends. Collette and her husband Jim O’Dell were members of the Cottonwood Cloggers in the early 90’s. The last 4 years she lived in Kingsley with family and enjoyed going to various small venues to hear local musicians. She may not have been dancing as much but her foot or her hands were always moving to the music, and her beautiful smile was always on her face while she watched others enjoy the music with her. Collette is survived by her daughters Rhonda Reed-Pischke and Roxanne (Brad) Goldammer. Her step-sons Shawn O’Dell and Tim O’Dell. Her grandchildren Dillon (Grace) Chapman, Amanda Pischke, Victor Goldammer and Isabelle Goldammer. Her Great Granddaughter Aurora Chapman who lovingly referred to her as Gigi.Collette was preceded in death by her father Bud Admire, mother Lillian Admire, her brother Tom Admire and her husband Jim O’Dell.
