Martin Uroda Obituary

Martin “Marty” Stanley Uroda, 76 years young, of Jackson, went home October 21, 2024 while in the comfort of his home and loving arms of his wife, Linda.  Marty was born September 1, 1948 in Detroit, MI., and was raised in Garden City and attended Crestwood High School.  The family then moved to Lake Columbia, to the new family home built by him, his father and grandfather.  It was there that Marty enjoyed his jetboating, waterskiing, and fishing.

Marty began his career at Ford Motor Company in Saline, MI. in 1966, then went on military leave, serving our country in the Army from 1968-1970.  He was chosen to serve in the Army Color Guard for the funeral of President Eisenhower, as they chose the most handsome and the tallest, (we were told). Marty returned to Ford Motor Company and then retired after 33 years of service.

Marty resided in several southern Michigan towns through the years, before returning to Jackson.  He met and married Linda Leslie and together they enjoyed adventures for 4 years in Lecanto, Fl. in their dream home.  He especially enjoyed his Crystal Glen neighbors and dining on the gulf at various restaurants.  He and Linda returned to Jackson and enjoyed their newest home, where Marty immersed himself in home renovation and lawn care.

Those cherishing his memory are his wife, Linda, bonus daughters and grandchildren, Meghan Dowling (Sean McCarthy); Cruz and Cash Dowling of Land O’ Lakes, Florida; Erin and Elijah Wright, of Livonia; and Jalen Smith of Farmington Hills, MI.; Sister-in-law, Brenda (Randy) Kulawik of Parma; brother Mike (Rachelle) Uroda; niece Jacilyn Uroda; sons, Drayke and Blayze Kirst; and nephew Michael Uroda and fiancé, Mackenzie Kurst, all of Jackson.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Florence (Szczepanski) Uroda; his sister, Marlene, nephew Nathaniel, and brother-in-law, Bill Leslie (Sue Roberts).

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on October 31, 2024 at 11:00am at Roseland Memorial Gardens Chapel with Military Graveside Honors immediately following in the Uroda family resting place.

Until we meet again, you will be forever loved and missed.  Thanks for the memories!!
