Marilyn Jean (Barnes) Hill passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in the home she cherished for 62 years, surrounded by the loving care of her family.
She was born on October 19, 1936, in Jackson, Michigan, to Arthur and Luella Barnes.
Marilyn graduated from Jackson High School, where she proudly twirled baton as a majorette. She worked in the Jackson Public Schools as an aide for hearing-impaired students. She fondly remembered her “kids” from Jackson Public Schools throughout her life, and they remembered her with equal affection. She retired in 1992 to devote more time to her family and to enjoy many happy years wintering in Florida with her beloved husband.
Marilyn married Darris Hill in 1957. Just two days before her passing, they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on February 16, surrounded by family and friends. Marilyn and Darris were inseparable, spending winters in Florida, taking frequent road trips, and visiting their favorite restaurants and destinations together.
Together they raised two children, Jody (Nicholas) LeCursi and Bob Hill. Marilyn dearly loved her grandchildren, Brandon (Niki) Martin, Blake Martin, and Elly LeCursi, and her great-granddaughter, Aurora Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Luella Barnes, and her great-grandson, Connor Martin.
Marilyn was a faithful member of Ganson Street Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held on February 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, Michigan with funeral service at 11:00. Reverend Tom Webber will officiate. Interment will follow at Roseland Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations in Marilyn’s name may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
