Marilyn (Mimi) Jean Barton (nee Hill), born August 17, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio, one of six children born to Isabel and George Hill, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Marilyn was preceded in death by sisters Carol and Gloria; brother Roger, and husband of 59 years, Bobby Barton. She is survived by sister Annette Winn of Baltimore, MD and brother William Hill of Detroit, MI.
Raised in Baltimore, MD, Marilyn moved to Jackson, MI in 1961 as a divorcee with three children where she met and married Bobby Barton, also a divorcee with three children (not quite the Brady Bunch, but close). Together they raised their blended family as one in Jackson. Marilyn and Bobby loved dancing on Friday nights, packing the family station wagon with six kids while pulling a pop-up camper on various summer vacations and attending many sporting events their kids were involved with.
The mother of six - Ron (Becky) Barton; Marsha (George) Bowers; Bernie (Melanie) Barton; Jeff (Paula) Barton; Julia (Jake) Kolb and Howard (Kelly) Barton, she is also survived by 11 grandchildren and about a hundred great-grandchildren.
Marilyn loved her flowers, especially crocuses and roses, and worked hard to fit in to her in-laws southern ways by canning just about any vegetable or fruit known to mankind. She even canned meat one year (I know the dog enjoyed that particular culinary adventure).
Gone, but never forgotten, we know that she and dad are once again dancing their way through wherever they are and are watching their legacies grow and prosper. We wish them Peace.
