Maria Vasquez Baiz

Passed away at her home in Jackson, Michigan on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the age of 91. Maria was born on August 2, 1929 to Felipe and Casimira Vasquez. She is survived by her children, Noe (Xiaoling) Baiz, Luis Jr. (Marilyn) Baiz, Lupe (Dan) Tice, Ray (Evelyn) Baiz, Tony Baiz, Gil (Colleen) Baiz, and Gloria Baez; 20 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Eloisa Vara, Leopoldo Villegas Jr and Juan Villegas.  Preceded in death by her parents, Felipe Vasquez and Casimira (Zepeda) Villegas; a son, Gilbert Baiz; various siblings; two grandchildren, Laurie M. Baiz and Michael J. Solis, and one great-grandchild, Michael L. Young Jr. Maria worked at Michigan Seat.  She moved to Jackson in 1959 from Albion. Maria attended the Iglesia de JESUCRISTO Church for 61 years. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery, and she loved garage sales. A celebration of Maria’s life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 11:00 am. Pastor Heladio Zuniga officiating. Interment following Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions for Maria may be made to Iglesia de JESUCRISTO Church, 2990 O’Leary Road, Jackson, MI 49201.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00pm, Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00pm and Thursday 10:00 am until the time of service.
