LuAnn Rae (Younkin) Bennett, age 65, left her earthly body Monday, January 13th with her husband at her side. LuAnn was a 1978 graduate of Grass Lake High School where she was a star athlete. After graduating, she became an electronics technician and would spend most of her career at Michigan Aerospace Corporation in Ann Arbor, where she was a senior aerospace technician. She received her bachelor’s degree in teaching in 2010 from Spring Arbor University.
LuAnn and her husband Vaughn were foster parents for several years, helping support several children in addition to their own. She was exceptionally generous and regularly made friends out of strangers. She enjoyed playing softball, painting, and dancing to music, but loved nothing more than spending time and sharing laughs with family and friends.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, William D. Younkin and Jann C. Youse. She is survived by the love of her life Vaughn Bennett, daughters Carly (Hulcher) Holmes, Carina Bennett, and Cylea Bennett, and stepchildren Teresa (Chris) Jones, Ryan Bennett, and Heather Maddy, 10 grandchildren, and 5 siblings and their families.
A celebration of life will be held at 12 PM on February 22, 2025 at Bethel Church in Jackson with a lunch following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in LuAnn’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
