Lora Hewitt Obituary

Lora went to heaven on July 5, 2024 in her home with family at her side.  She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Hewitt, grandson Christopher Hewitt, parents Bill and Esta Palmer, and 7 sisters.

Survived by children Cindy (Hewitt) Spalding, Bill and Vicky Hewitt, Gary and Brenda Brewer, and Angel (Futrell) Rhines; Grandchildren Tony, Travis, Gary, and Lora; Great-Grandchildren Tony, Aurora, and Max.

She was born on June 4, 1936 in the hills of West Virginia. She was the 7th of 8 sisters.  After high school, she moved to Washington, D.C. and started working for the FBI under the direct supervision of J. Edgar Hoover, for a total of ten years.  During that time, she met Del at the Nazarene Church of Washington, D.C. and married him.  They returned to Jackson, MI. She has a 25 year career as an administrative assistant with the Jackson Public School system.  She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene (JaxNaz) and then at the Jackson Free Methodist Church (Jackson Free).

Lora donated her body to the Michigan State University Medical School as did her husband.  There will not be any services per her request.  Arrangements by Watson Funeral Chapel – Jackson, MI.
