Lois Arleith Yeomans

Lois Arleith Yeomans of Jackson, MI passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the age of 91. She was born March 12, 1928 in Battle Creek, MI, the daughter of Everett and Belle (Moore) Cowan. Lois was preceded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart of 64 years, Gerald Scott Yeomans; her parents; daughter–in-law, Kathy (Hitt) Yeomans; and brother, Everett Bruce Cowan. She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Gerald) Koon of Parma and David (significant other, Melissa BeVier)Yeomans of Pleasant Lake; grandchildren, Adrienne (Troy) Smith, Ehrin (David) Anspaugh, Allison (significant other, Bill Rozema) Yeomans, Julianne (Jason) Woods, Joshua (Kristen) Koon; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Joyce) Cowan; sister-in-law, Pauline Cowan; several brothers and sisters- in-laws, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Ed Koon.

Lois grew up in Battle Creek and was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School.  She was a Bell Telephone Pioneer who began her career as a telephone operator in the late 1940s, and later retired with over 35 years of service. Together with her husband she was a member of Masonic Auxiliary Groups and a member of the Eastern Star. Lois enjoyed spending time in northern Michigan, music, sweets, her computer, catalog shopping for Christmas and baking cookies with her grandchildren, and above all else spending time with her family. She kept her positive attitude, sense of humor, and wit up until the very end.  Most importantly Lois was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. 

A celebration of her life will be held at Arbor Grove Congregational Church on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11:00am; Reverend Jerry Turner officiating. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Grove Congregational Church Memorial Fund, 2621 McCain Road, Jackson, Michigan 49203.  The family will receive friends at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 5:00-8:00pm and at the church on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of service.
