Bruce was called home to his Lord on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Born December 31, 1938 in Adrian, MI. to David and Vinnie Johnson. He served in the U.S. Marines. He worked at Jackson Drop Forge, and later worked 16 years at GM – Willow Run; he worked at Knapp’s at Westwood Mall, and also taught pottery at Jackson College. He was the Balloon Entertainer, with 3 Generation Twisters, where he was the owner and founder lovingly called the “Madd Hatter”. He was a member over 50 years of Cornerstone Christian Church. He enjoyed balloon twisting, singing in a Barbershop Quartet, Lego’s, pottery, and playing Harmonica.
Surviving are his 2 children Phil (Denise) Johnson and Lucy (Chris) Catlin; 6 grandchildren, Deborah Melville (Joe Olmstead), Crystal (Lee) Stineman, Anthony Melville, Patrick (Eden) Johnson, Stevie Melville (Samatha Thompson), and Braedyn Catlin; 9 great-grandchildren, Matthew Melville, Lily Taylor, Landon Stineman, Addison Stineman, Brantley Johnson, Elliot Dunlap, Elliana Johnson, Samitha Melville, and Zoey Johnson; 3 siblings, Rita Johnson, Patrick (Diane) Johnson, and Delores (Dennis) Watson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Bruce was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Helene Johnson in 2014; son Alan; grandson, Phillip Johnson; his parents; and 3 sisters, Violet Irish, Carol Nicholson, and Delight Oakley.

The Celebration of Bruce’s Life will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 15, 2024 at Cornerstone Christian Church, 2395 W. High St. Jackson with Michael D. Mason officiating. Viewing will be from 10-11 A.M. prior to services. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday, April 14, at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Rd. Jackson. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cornerstone Christian Church in memory of Bruce.
