Lee Meltesen Miller "aka Pete" of Battle Creek, MI passed away at his Jackson, MI residence, Intersect Health, surrounded by his daughter Laura and his nurses and friends in the nursing home on December 21st early in the morning due to complications from Alzheimers. Lee was born on August 17th 1949 in Battle Creek, MI, the son of Donald and Louise (Ward) Miller. He graduated from Lakeview schools in Battle Creek in 1969. Lee worked in many different factory type jobs and worked through many different advertises such as a broken ankle and metal in his eye to name a few. He spent many years at Clark equipment, Ralstons and Michigan Paper Company to name a few. He eventually retired early due to disability. Lee had many hobbies. He was always talking about fishing trips with his dad, his previous wife Jody, and his big treasure was always spending time on the lake in his boat in his younger years. As he aged he taught himself how to repair cars and would always have a project going on in the garage. He also loved to watch movies, many times he spent going to the movies. One of the best stories was how he used to cheat the movie theater and walk out of one movie and into another. In his later life he loved to visit the Casinos and enjoy time with friends there. Lee's biggest claim to fame was his uncanny resemblance to Abe Lincoln. Man did Lee love to talk about Abe. Even with Alzheimers he could still recite the Preamble and the Gettysburg Address without much fail. Before his passing he spent the last few years with THome PACE of Jackson where he was known to be a card shark and sharer of much of his wisdom and his stories. He will be missed by many.
Survived by Lee are his daughter Laura and son-in-law James Miller, his previous wife Joan Trenary, sister-in-law Nancy Miller, Niece Paula Purdham, WI cousins Crystal Gilmore, Starr Cannon, Jocelyn and David Standiford. Lee was preceded in death by his mother Louise Miller, father Donald Miller, Brother Donald Harvey Miller, his Aunt Dee and Ralph Miller of Racine WI.
Lee did not want a funeral or visitation. Rather a life remembrance party during the hottest time of the year. For any that knew Lee, you know how he liked his room/house! HOT! This will be planned in the future.
