Larry Allen Bayer

Bayer, Larry A. of Jackson, passed away July 26, 2024 age 86 years. Born on April 23, 1938 in Jackson, MI to Otto Scott and Eunice Brown, and he and his two sisters were adopted by Andrew Bayer on April 28, 1944.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy, one son Bradley (Candi) Bayer of S. Carolina, six grandchildren; Amber, Nicole, Amanda, Christy, Zach and Linden, twelve great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one son L. Scott Bayer, his parents and two sisters; Waneta Bohnett and Delores Bean.

Larry graduated from Jackson High School in 1956.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960 on 2 different destroyers: USS Turner and USS Jonas Ingram.  He married Nancy Rampy of Parma, MI on Nov. 29, 1957 in Angola, Indiana.  Son, Bradley Allen Bayer was born on January 26, 1960, and son, Larry Scott Bayer was born on May 14, 1961.  He coached Little League Baseball, Youth Hockey, and High School Hockey.  He was a referee for various sports through Jackson Recreation Program for many years.  He retired in April 2000, from Aeroquip Corporation (later known as Eaton Corporation) after 34 years.

The Celebration of Larry’s Life will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at South Jackson Community Church, 1024 Kimmel Rd, Jackson, MI 49201 with Pastor Steve Brown officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service.
