Kelly Elizabeth Kaunitz-Burroughs, Age 62, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025 in Jackson.
Born on March 27, 1963, in Big Rapids, Michigan, she was the daughter of Pamela Paris. Kelly was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Kelly graduated from Redmond High School and took a leap of faith joining Microsoft when it was still a baby tech company. She started in the warehouse and worked her way up to becoming a buyer.
Kelly lived big. She loved sunshine, paragliding, camping, campfires, diving, gymnastics, and a good road trip with music blasting. Her Christmas village was iconic (and often stayed up until February). She made a mean guacamole, loved Mexican food, and could light up a room with her laugh. Kelly had a passion for adventure and the outdoors. She cherished time spent in the sun, by the water, and at the beach. An animal lover, she adored her dogs and was committed to volunteering, especially for local LGBTQ+ causes and animal welfare organizations.
Kelly is survived by her mother, Pam; her brother, Chris Kaunitz (Jen); her sister, Kathy Luis (Matt); her niece, Kennedy; her nephew, Payton; and numerous extended family members and close friends who will miss her deeply. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, adventure, love, and light.
No services are planned at this time. In honor of Kelly, please consider donating to your local humane society — and maybe take a little road trip, blast your favorite song, or laugh a little louder today. She would’ve loved that.
