Of Jackson, MI went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital at the age of 93. He was the son of Herbert and Emma (Heideman) Happel, born September 20, 1927 in Jackson, MI. Karl is survived by his wife of 72 years of marriage, Margaret (Bolenbaugh) Happel; their children, Brian (Debbie) Happel, Sandra Happel, and Linda Baxter; six grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and sister, Helen (Don) Wells. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Grace Happel; and niece, Lorie Wells. Karl was a graduate of Jackson High School. He worked and retired after 44 years of service at Hill Piston Service, New York Central Railroad, and Camshaft Machine Co. as a machinist. Karl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 93 years. He enjoyed spending his married life with Margaret and eating her home cooking, going to church, seeing his family, visiting lifelong friends and church members, his dog companionship, motorcycle riding, and watching motorsport racing. A private family viewing will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson. A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 11:00am with Pastor Lambart officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Cascade Humane Society, or Macular Degeneration Association.
