Karen Lorraine Putman (Ludwig) of Jackson, MI passed away at home on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the age of 67. Karen was the daughter of Conrad and Patricia Ludwig (Ware), born June 27, 1958 in Jackson, MI. She is survived by her three children, Ryan (Julianna) Putman, Kristen (Andrew) Willis, Jenna (Chris) Brycz; 4 grandchildren, Benjamin Willis, Eden Willis, Barrett Willis, and John Brycz; brothers Mark (Cheryl) Ludwig and Kevin (Ann) Ludwig; several nieces and nephews, and special friends Steve Magee and Sharon Norrington.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents. She was a graduate of Northwest High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University and a Master’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University. She worked as a special education teacher at Northwest High School for nearly 30 years. Once retired from education she worked at the Cascade’s Humane Society and later at Lifespan. She was an avid sports fan, most especially of the Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan football. She had a deep love for animals and rescued countless strays over the course of her lifetime.
Karen was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place, per her wishes, and she will be laid to rest by her parents at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cascades Humane Society 1515 Carmen Dr. Jackson, MI 49202. A gathering of family & friends has been scheduled with Watson Funeral Chapel to be held on January 22, 2026 from 5:00-7:00pm.
