Joyce Marie Pierson (89 years old) of Jackson, Michigan passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025 at the Hospice House in Jackson, Michigan after a short and peaceful stay. Joyce was born on November 15th, 1935 (first day of Deer Season) the only daughter of George and Leone Grover of Hadley, Michigan. Joyce was married in June 1955 to Richard Gary Pierson of Goodrich, Michigan. They were happily married until his passing in January 1994. Joyce was preceded in death by her five brothers, Jim, Richard, Edward, Ken, and Wayne and grandchild Jeremy Pierson.
Joyce and Richard are succeeded by Mike Pierson (Sheryl), George Pierson, Carleton Pierson, Brenda Aubrey(Rex) along with 7 grandchildren- Logan Pierson, Palmer Pierson, Vitalia Quinn, Elizabeth Aubrey Czolgosz, Anastasia Aubrey, Victoria Aubrey- Khon, Heather Pierson and six great grandchildren- Alexis Pierson, Marissa Pierson, Henrik Czolgosz, Magnolia Czolgosz, Joanna Khon and Molly Khon.
Joyce and family have been a long time Jackson residents with deep business and social ties. The family owned and operated Hillcrest Memorial Park in Jackson along with additional cemeteries across Michigan. Along with running Hillcrest, Joyce was a successful real estate agent, accomplished painter who opened her studio to many local artists and a long-time member of the Jackson Area Civic Art Association. Joyce also was a Championship Golfer and the first female member of the Arbor Hills Country Club.
Family and friends gathering will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2025 at Watson Funeral Chapel, 2590 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, Michigan, 49203. Contributions can be sent to the Jackson Area Civic Art Association.
Entombment at Goodrich Cemetery, 1 pm Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
